How do I find the reading levels of children's books in the library or search using the reading levels?

Answer

The Library's WorldCatLocal catalog allows searching for books by limiting to the audience levels either juvenile or non-juvenile. Please select the Advanced Search mode for this. For users who are looking for specific grade designations, this may not be specific enough.   However, there are few authoritative sites and databases that can help. One is a database for Reading and Language Arts from the California Department of Education at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ci/rl/ll/ap/litsearch.asp. The Lexile Framework for Reading is another comprehensive database of books searchable by grade levels.  Finally, A Scholastic Book Wizard, is a database of 50,000 books that also can be searched by reading levels and grades.
