I'm looking for some major media watchdog organizations. Can you suggest a few?

Answer

This is a particularly timely question just before the presidential elections. There are several well-known organizations often cited by media themselves. As one can see some are not free of bias themselves in watching others.

Accuracy in Media (www.aim.org)

"Accuracy In Media is a non-profit, grassroots citizens watchdog of the news media that critiques botched and bungled news stories and sets the record straight on important issues that have received slanted coverage".

FAIR: Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting (http://www.fair.org/index.php)

"FAIR, the national media watch group, has been offering well-documented criticism of media bias and censorship since 1986".

Media Matters For America (http://mediamatters.org/)

"Media Matters for America is a Web-based, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) progressive research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media".

 Media Research Center (http://www.mrc.org/)

"Since 1987, our unwavering commitment to neutralizing left-wing bias in the news media and popular culture has influenced how millions of Americans perceive so-called objective reporting".
